[on childbearing] It was not my destiny. I kept thinking it would be, waiting for it to happen, but it never did, and I didn’t care what people thought. Women never gave me a hard time, anyway, it was only boring old men. And whenever they went ‘What? No children? Well, you’d better get on with it, old girl,’ I’d say “No! Fuck off!” ―Helen Mirren, Vogue UK March 2013

Ireland debuted a new stamp featuring a 224-word short story written by Dublin teenager Eoin Moore. That’s right. Ireland’s so bookish that even its postage is literary.

What Would You Do?: A transgender woman is insulted by a man at a diner. This is a really great segment they did where a trans woman, played by a real trans woman, is insulted and ridiculed by a man (played by an actor, of course) while she serves him at a diner. You’d be surprised at how many people butted in to defend her.

So much faith in humanity restored.

Fucking great how they supported her.

I may need to watch this show more often.

I am literally crying this is making me so happy that there are people who will protect a perfect stranger especially religious people. I’m so used to hearing about people killing, hurting, misgendering people like me that I forget people like this exist.

THIS IS CARMEN CARRERA SHE WAS ON RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE SHE’S A FIERCE BITCH.

“How can you be so accepting?”

“How can you not be?”

This man right here.

Double plus: Accepting people and Carmen friggin’ Carrera. Oh this makes me so happy. Actually found out that four Drag Race contestants came out as transgender:

Season 2 contestant Sonique, season 3 contestant Carmen Carreraseason 4 contestant Kenya Michaels and season 5 contestant Monica Beverly Hillz are the series’ only transsexual participants. Sonique, Carmen, and Kenya had entered the contest self-identifying as males and began self-identifying as transgender females after their respective eliminations.[1] Monica Beverly Hillz came out as a transgender woman during her time on the show.
